In the 15th century, during the prosperous Yongle Era of the Ming Dynasty, Zheng He led the world’s largest ocean-going fleet of his age to launch seven unprecedented voyages to the Western Oceans. The Malacca Strait served as a critical strategic hub along his maritime route.

Zheng He anchored his fleets in Malacca multiple times to establish permanent supply depots, forging deep diplomatic ties with the Malacca Sultanate.
